One of the outstanding features of the ecosystem creation software Vue is its high capacity and real-time performance in replicating vegetation and other imported models or objects. When combined with Vue’s unique natural
atmospheres, this creates a highly engaging real-time environment.
In this tutorial, I demonstrate how I created an urban environment. First, I designed a map in Photoshop using black and white lines, which served as our alpha map. I then imported it into Vue’s Populate module, where I adjusted elevations and depressions using its controllers. Using this map, I distributed the models across the cityscape and positioned the buildings accurately. In this lesson, you will learn all these techniques.
Note: It’s worth mentioning that when I started learning Vue in 2008, I created some English tutorials where the instructor pronounced the program as “Viewy,” which is why I have always pronounced it that way in my lessons. The correct pronunciation is “Vue.” Given the limited resources at the time and the program’s lack of popularity in Iran, this was natural. These details highlight the originality and age of these tutorials and, for me, serve as a beautiful reminder of how I started alone and have continued progressing up to 2023.
